RESOLVING

Written By Linda A. Knowles

CALLED 1Your holiness,

Your perfect ways,

Not striving,

But resolving,

To remain steadfast,

Walking the old path,

You marked out long ago.

Taking Shelter

TAKING SHELTER
Written By Linda A. Knowles

PSALMS 91.4Taking shelter-

Under the shadow of Your wings-

Where You keep Your children safe.

Taking shelter-

Recalling Your promises,

Remembering Your goodness and care,

And knowing, LORD, Your children can call on You,

Because You’re always there.

Let Me See

LET ME SEE

Written By Linda A. Knowles

CLOUDS 1 -Internet

Peel back the clouds,

And let me see,

The fullness, the splendor of Your Majesty,

And let me behold my eternal home,

That New Jerusalem,

With layered walls of precious gems,

The streets of gold, the crystal sea.

The fairest bloom and fairest face cannot compare to You,

Who is of unfailing love,

Who bestows unending grace,

And Your mercies ever new.

Be Careful For Those Dark Corners Where Sin Is Allowed To Dwell

JEZEBEL’S WEB

Black Widow

The widow weaves her web so steadily,

Each silk strand in its place,

That dark corner that will ensnare,

Those simpletons in her space.

*

She’ll go against the Word of God,

And set the trap in place,

And there so obvious are her victims hung

On each and every strand that’s strung.

*

Her web expands in width and height,

The depths not truly known;

But each and every single strand

Holds those known and unknown.

*

She spun them in her silken web and slowly drains their blood,

Her victims with eyes sunken and ashen faces,

So pale from her unloving embraces,

But she cradles her human slaves,

Now bound by her vicious silken strands.

*

You see her web has stretched so far and wide,

Her dungeon blackened and damp;

And fools go down into her place,

To find themselves dying in disgrace.

*

Be careful for those dark corners,

Where sin is allowed to dwell,

Where transgressions are celebrated,

Where lies are free to swell.

*

Be careful for the black widow,

Who would try to claim your soul,

For the wickedness that is her,

Her name is Jezebel.

Mere Mortal Words Escape

BREAK AWAY 1…And I cry, “Abba, Father”

Mere mortal words escape me;

And I cannot express

nor convey the depths of this soul.

…And I cannot speak

But only in unknown tongue

not known to mere man,

But, You, Abba, and only You

can truly comprehend.

DEEPER STILL

Deeper still,

where He leads,

In His ways,

Where He treads,

There I shall go.

The Toxic Friend

THE TOXIC FRIEND

Written By Linda A. Knowles

toxic-1

She brought up past sins,

from those long ago days,

a time from the past;

and I saw her ways.

toxic-2

A friendship so toxic,

and it finally fell apart;

But it felt for me,

a yoke,

that broke;

and no more dart-like words,

to smack me in the face,

for towards the very end,

the friendship was covered with oleander,

concealed by pretty lace.

Toxic 4.jpeg

It took its toll,

discouraging words,

background trolls,

broken promises,

so many no’s.

toxic-3

The spouting of a familiar phrase,

One I would often hear her say,

“I didn’t do anything wrong,”

and fault fell to me,

even when it was hers,

constantly-

always-

apologizing,

endlessly.

toxic-5

Continually,

I was saying,

“I’m sorry for…”

seemingly all the time;

but she claimed no part.

toxic-7

How she got all innocent;

to this day,

I still don’t know;

But,

more and more,

I understand,

as time goes on and on.

A Peck of Gold By Robert Frost

~ONE OF MY FAVORITE POEMS BY ROBERT FROST~

*

A PECK OF GOLD

Written By Robert Frost

gold-dust-1

*

Dust always blowing about the town,
Except when sea-fog laid it down,
And I was one of the children told
Some of the blowing dust was gold.
*
All the dust the wind blew high
Appeared like god in the sunset sky,
But I was one of the children told
Some of the dust was really gold.
*
Such was life in the Golden Gate:
Gold dusted all we drank and ate,
And I was one of the children told,
‘We all must eat our peck of gold.’

Rawest of Moments – That’s Where God Can Work

RAWEST OF MOMENTS

Written By Linda A. Knowles

broken-heart-2

Heart Broken, Spirit Crushed, Soul Torn Asunder

Mind Flooded With So Many Thoughts

Eye Brimming With Tears

Endless Sleepless Nights

The Rawest of Moments-

That’s Where God Can Work.

*

Pouring Out of Heart Before Him

Admission of Powerlessness

Confession of Iniquities

The Rawest of Moments-

That’s Where God Can Work.

*

No Make-Up On, No Clothes On, No Mask Worn

Your Frailty & Nakedness Exposed

Your Strength & Vanity Gone

The Rawest of Moments-

That’s Where God Can Work.

*

Figuring Out The Only Place You Can Turn To

Light Finally Dawning On Marblehead

You’ve Found Your Way Back Home

Into His Loving Arms You Run

Enveloped By His Love

The Rawest of Moments-

That’s Where God Can Work.

POEM: Creation Sings

CREATION SINGS

Written By Linda A. Knowles

Valentine 5

*

Flowers of splendid blossom rise,

Hills rolling majestic;

Horizons glow with palettes of rose and hues of yellow,

Rippling across the sky with glints of silver glistening.

*

Lush green pastures covered with droplets of morning dew;

Waters cascading from their falls.

*

All the wonder of creation displays a marvelous array of beauty,

Handcrafted, so intricately made,

From what once was chaos brought to a glorious order.

*

Golden rays of the sun lapping across oceans, brooks, streams, and rivers;

And eagles soaring above mountain heights and furrowed brows,

As the hind makes her way through the treacherous mountain paths,

And the lowest of valleys.

*

How majestic is Your Name, O Lord!

How majestic is Your Name!

Your creation continually sings of Your magnificence,

Praising Your splendor and majesty,

Giving the honor due Your Name;

And I, My Lord & King, can only do the same.
